“I first met Greg at his stand at the Mountaingrass Festival in Harrietville in 2015. I had been thinking about upgrading to a high end mandolin for a while, possibly on an upcoming visit to the USA. However, after talking to Greg for a while and listening to the sound of his mandolins and hearing about his journey of going to the USA, training under Roger Siminoff, and creating his mandolins as close to the original Gibson Lloyd Loar design, I knew I wouldn’t get any better than his at a reasonable price. Over the next few weeks after Mountaingrass, Greg and I corresponded and an order was placed for a custom model F5. Greg’s advice, attention to detail in understanding my requirements made the decision to confirm an order easy for me. As the weeks progressed, Greg consulted me on selection of materials and kept me updated with progress pictures. After some months, Greg came down to Brisbane so that I could play it in the ‘white’stage and it was difficult to hand it back to him for final finishing. Even at that stage it felt and sounded just perfect - power, playability, volume and sustain clear asa bell. The difference between my other mandolin (which is quite nice) was chalk and cheese, and I couldn’t stop smiling when he handed it over to me at Mountaingrass 2016. Recently, I attended a mandolin workshop in the USA where there were some very nice mandolins there (various new and vintage Gibsons, a Gilchrist, an Ellis etc) and I didn’t hear anything better than my Dunn Mandolin. It’s not only me that thinks that, other very good players who have played it have been very complimentary. I have 110% satisfaction in my Dunn Mandolin and everything was a pleasure when doing business with Greg.”

"I'm primarily a guitarist and relatively new to the mandolin. Nonetheless I wanted a 'keeper' from the get go, for live performances and recording. I have the honour of owning Greg Dunn's very first-built F5 mandolin. It's articulate, robust and loud, yet sweet...a beautifully resonant, handcrafted top shelf Aussie-made instrument. I'm delighted”

“I brought my 1970 A5 Gibson mandolin to Greg when it was at death’s door and a lot of people had told me that it could not be fixed. The top had caved in, a lot of the binding was coming off and there were cracks everywhere. I was distraught, as this instrument has been my living since 1970. Luckily, I was put onto Greg and he has put so much creativity, research and hard work into it, to make it look and sound as it did when it was new. I just couldn’t believe the outcome and I can’t thank him enough for his commitment, skills and talent".

"I had my heart set on a good mandolin and when I picked up a Dunn Mandolin A5 at the Mountaingrass Festival in Harrietville in November 2015, I knew that it was the one! It took a few months in 2016 to secure it and Greg delivered it to me in June when he came down with two other instruments for customers. Beautiful sound, build quality and to top it off Greg went above and beyond in making sure the instrument arrived safely and was set up to suit me."
